FAQs
What is Therapy? What will I gain?
Therapy is a process used to help heal and treat a wide range of challenges you may experience in life. It allows you to explore and identify thought and behavior patterns that are keeping you from feeling your best. It is helpful in overcoming depression, anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other mental health disorders. It is also helpful to address other challenges in life such as transitioning through phases of life, poor self esteem, relationship problems, parenting difficulties and much more.
Ultimately, your journey in therapy is yours to design. You will feel better, calmer, healed from past wounds and more hopeful for the future. It will be a pathway to a happier life, improved relationships and achieving your purpose in life.
How does it work?
If you are in the Greater Houston area, we will meet in person unless you prefer a virtual appointment. If you are anywhere else in Texas, appointments will be virtual.
The first session will be mostly focused on getting to know you and obtaining some background information. Then, we talk about your goals in therapy and start outlining the steps we might take to accomplish them. We will discuss the frequency of sessions and determine the best path for you.
Sessions are individualized based on your personal needs and goals. I use a variety of methodologies and techniques to help you feel better, heal, and reach your goals. I take on a holistic approach which means that we will consider all areas of your life - your mind, body and spiritual needs, your strengths and weaknesses, and the best ways to help you improve your overall quality of life.
How long will it take?
Each person is different and each situation is different. Therapy is a process. It can take time. Your goals in therapy will guide the process. Often, we are working on healing emotional wounds that have been present for years. Fortunately, it will not take as many years to heal those wounds and for you to accomplish your goals. And, hopefully, it won't take very long for you start to feel some relief of the symptoms you are experiencing. It will be worth it because you are worth it.
